Kidnapped NPC staff regains freedom after 5 days in captivity

Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have released a federal commissioner with the National Population Commission (NPC) in Bayelsa State, Gloria Izonfuo.

This came after the Commissioner spent five days in kidnappers den.

The Informant247 recalls that some gunmen abducted the NPC official along the Ogbakiri axis of the East-West Road in Rivers State.

The former Bayelsa State Head of Service was kidnapped while coming back from a journey to Brass.

She was kidnapped alongside her maid and driver.

The new development was confirmed by the spokesperson of the Rivers State Police Command, Grace Iringe-Koko on Friday April 28.

She said the police command was still proceeding with its investigation to ensure the arrest of the kidnappers.

The spokesperson told newsmen that: “Yes, she was released this morning (Friday). An investigation is still ongoing to apprehend the kidnappers and make them face justice.”

When asked if the victim’s maid and driver were equally set free, she said: “Okay, I will get back to you on that.”

The Informant247 could not establish if any ransom was paid, at the time of producing this report.
