‘Jollof Derby’: Salisu Yusuf releases squad list for Ghana’s clash
The Head Coach of the Super Eagle Team B, Salisu Yusuf has released the final list of the players that will do the battle against the Black Galaxies of Ghana in the CHAN qualifiers game.
A total number of 22 players was named on Thursday for the two legged affairs game which will pitch the arch rivals against each other.
For the goalkeepers, Adewale Adeyinka, Ojo Olorunleke and Bankole Kayode will be hoping to represent their Country.
In the defence, the Coach will have more choice to make with Tope Olusesi Kazie Eyinaya, Ebube Duru, Sani Faisal, Tosin Adegbeti, Temple Emekayi, Isa Ali and
Gbadebo Samson.
The midfield set up will have the likes of Maurice Chukwu,Afeez Nosiru, Bello Babatunde, Chiamaka Madu, Joseph Onoja and Zulifilu Muhammad Rabiu
Coach Yusuf named Andy Okpe, Chijioke Akuneto; last season NPFL highest goal scorer, Ossy Marthins , Sadiq Abubakar and
Nwobodo Obinna for the cutting edge.
Super Eagles Team B,also known Home-based Eagles will square up with Ghana in the first leg in Accra on Sunday, 28th August while the second leg is scheduled for Moshood Abiola Stadium Abuja on Saturday 3rd September.
The winners on aggregate will go on to participate at the 7th African Nations Championship in Algeria in 2023.
Nigeria vs Ghana has always been ‘codified’ as a Jollof derby in view of the age-long narrative of which of the West Africans Country makes the best of ‘Jollof Rice’.
