The results of the candidates who sat for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, UTME on Saturday May 6th have been released by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).
This was announced by the examination board on Monday May 8th, as it revealed that the 80,000 candidates who took part in the examination can start checking their results.
The spokesperson of the examination board, Fabian Benjamin said “Results of mop-up UTME held on Saturday, May 6, 2023, released.”
The Informant247 understands that the mop-up exam was put in place to regularise the difficulties faced by the candidates who could not successfully do the UTME.
The examination board registered a total of 1,586,765 candidates for 2023 UTME.
The examination council made available the results of the exams between April 25 and May 3.
The examination body also rescheduled the examination for candidates who found it difficult to write the UTME due to technical problems.
“One assurance we want to give Nigerians is that every candidate that has registered for this examination will certainly be given the opportunity to take the examination,” the JAMB spokesperson had said.
“On the first day, there were candidates who were unable to sit for the exam because of technical issues and we have rescheduled those candidates.”
2023: JAMB releases UTME results, explains how to check results
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) on Tuesday May 2nd made accessible the results of this year’s Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
The results of the external examination conducted last Monday and Tuesday were released on Tuesday May 2nd.
This was announced in a statement released by the Head, Public Affairs and Protocol, of the examination board, Fabian Benjamin
The examination board disclosed that it registered 1, 595, 779 candidates for the examination.
It added that the examinations were held in 708 CBT centres across 105 towns in Nigeria.
The results of the candidates who were rescheduled to re-sit for the examination on Saturday April 6 are not parts of the released results.
Also the released results do not include those of the absentees, those whom the board was still investigating their results and those of the visually impaired participants which the board are still processing.
The examination board implored those who sat for the examination should use the numbers they used to register for the examination to send UTMERESULT to 55019 or 66019.
The Board said doing the above would make the results appear as a text message.
It said: “To check the results, all a candidate needs to do is to simply send UTMERESULT to 55019 or 66019 using the same phone number that he/she had used for registration and the result would be returned as a text message.
“Also to be noted is the fact that the released results, when checked by candidates, would return the status of the candidates.
“For instance, with respect to absent or rescheduled candidates, or those under investigation, the response would be: YOU WERE ABSENT, RESCHEDULED OR UNDER INVESTIGATION. Therefore, only candidates who are not under any of these categories would have a returned result.”
