Residents of Igbomina communities in Kwara South senatorial district were the beneficiaries of a recent medical outreach carried out by a Non-Government Organization, the Igbomina Mobile Clinic.
The perrenial health program, an initiative of the Igbomina Project North America (IPNA), was held in partnership with Landmark University at the Igbomina House in Ganmo, Kwara state.
Hundreds of residents were screened for hepatitis, diabetes, hypertension, cancer and other ailments after an extensive health sensitization lecture.
They were also given drugs free of charge.
The vice president of the group, Otunba Bode Ojeleye disclosed that the medical outreach is an initiative by Igbomina sons and daughters based in the United States as a way of giving back to the society in the area of healthcare.
“The group has been doing wonderfully well in the area of free healthcare delivery and it would continue to do so,” he said.
The Olugana of Ganmo who among the beneficiaries appreciate the outreach and commend the faces behind the exercise.
Also speaking during the exercise, the medical outreach director, Dr. Onipede Bidemi lauded the medical initiative, noting that it enables beneficiaries to be aware of their health status.
The health worker at Landmark Medical Centre maintained that the health programme has helped beneficiaries reduce their medical bills in the face of harsh economic realities.
A beneficiary, Mr Adetunji, said they were screened by doctors and administered with drugs.
He expressed gratitude for the gesture. Adetunji stated, “I appreciate the founders, volunteers and coordinators of this program, they are doing wonderfully well. May the good Lord continue to bless and be with them.”
