The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has shifted the senatorial election of Enugu East over the death of the candidate of the Labour Party, Oyibo Chukwu.

This was announced by the Chairman of the electoral commission, Professor Mahmood Yakubu, on Friday, February 24, 2023 while addressing the media at the national collation centre in Abuja, the nation’s capital.

The Informant247 recalls that the deceased political actor was assassinated and set on fire at Amechi Awkunanaw in Enugu south LGA on Wednesday, February 22, 2023 following a scene of sporadic shooting on his convoy by some gunmen.

The Informant247 understands that the presidential election would take place in Nigeria, West Africa on Saturday February 25, 2023.

The leading candidates in the presidential election are Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress, APC; Atiku Abubakar of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP; Peter Obi of the Labour Party, LP; Rabiu Kwankwaso of the New Nigeria People’s Party, NNPP among other presidential candidates.
