Ilorin looting: Kwara govt assures residents of adequate security

Following the wanton looting and destruction of public properties and private businesses in Ilorin on Friday, the Kwara State Commissioner for Communications, Harriet Afolabi-Oshatimehin has assured residents of the state of adequate security.

Afolabi-Oshatimehin gave this assurance in a statement she personally signed over the weekend.

She explained that the despicable acts do not reflect the character of an average Kwaran, advising residents to remain indoor while the curfew lasted.

She added that the resolve of the state government, in conjunction with the security agencies in the state, would not be deterred in ensuring that peace returns to the state.

She stated, “The wanton theft of goods and wares of business outfits by the criminals was despicable and reprehensible.

“It is, however, note worthy that with combined efforts of the security agencies in the state, the acts of vandalism have been brought under control.”

The Commissioner furthered that the Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq administration would not be deterred in ensuing that the culprits face the consequences of their actions in the courts of law.

She, therefore, assured residents of the state that there is no cause to panic as the situation is improving through the efforts of stakeholders.
