I still work for my clients- says Nigeria’s youngest female legislator

Reputed to the youngest female legislator in Nigeria, Rukayat Shittu, the Lawmaker representing Owode/Onirin constituency of Asa local government area of Kwara State in the state assembly says she still does her fashionista work.

In a Facebook post on Monday, the lawmaker was seen in a video operating an embroidery machine while adding the caption of her still working despite being a public official.

“Despite being a public official, I still work. As you all know, I am a fashionista and I still work for my clients to deliver quality products and services. Ise ni ogun ise, Ise ni afin di eni gi ga. Get busy, please work” she said in the post.

A 2022 graduate of Mass Communication from the National Open University Of Nigeria (NOUN), Honourable Ruqayat is the Chairperson, House Committee on Youths, Sports, Information and Tourism in the current tenth Assembly.

At age 26, Rukayat won a seat in the Kwara State House of Assembly after she was declared the winner of Owode Onire state constituency of Asa Local Government Area in the 2023 general elections.
