The House of Representatives is set to end its annual recess and resume the first legislative year of the 10th Assembly on Tuesday, according to a statement by Yahaha Danzaria, the clerk of the house.
The 10th House had commenced its annual recess on July 27th, following a plenary session where Speaker Tajudeen Abbas announced the leadership of the standing committees.
Akin Rotimi, the spokesperson of the house and chairman of the House Committee on Media and Public Affairs, highlighted the productivity of the 10th Assembly, citing the introduction of 470 bills, all of which passed the first reading, and four that proceeded to the second reading.
Additionally, 175 motions have been considered by the parliament.
Despite the recess, various ad hoc committees have continued their essential work, generating significant public interest.
Upon resumption, the house is expected to conclude the work of these committees and receive their reports for consideration, as directed by the speaker.
Mr. Rotimi also mentioned that the house would receive the final draft of its Legislative Agenda, developed by the ad hoc committee led by Majority Leader Julius Inhonvbere.
This agenda, crafted through extensive consultations with key stakeholders, will be considered and adopted by the house.
Furthermore, the membership of the standing committees will be announced and fully constituted.
