Political parties in Kwara State have been urged to zone their Ekiti/Oke-Ero/Isin ticket to Isin.
The spokesperson of The Conference of Political Parties in the federal constituency, Hon. Sunkanmi Ereoye stated this during an interview session with journalists on Tuesday in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital.
He said Isin local government, which had only occupied the position for just one term of 4 years, should be allowed to take a shot at the seat.
It was earlier reported that stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State had over the weekend called on the leadership of the party in the state to cede the ticket of the House of Representatives for Ekiti/Irepodun/Isin/Oke-Ero federal constituency to Ekiti LGA in the interest of equity, fairness and justice.
The spokesman of the group and the immediate-past Chairman of Ekiti LGA, Yinka Ayeni Dallas, said the clamour of the people of the Ekiti council area to have the House of Representatives ticket conceded to them was premised on the principle of fairness.
However, responding to this, Ereoye said, instead of the APC stakeholders calling for the ticket to be zoned to Ekiti, there are a lot of other aspirants in Isin within the party that are more capable to contest the position
He said, “It is no longer news that some APC stakeholders called for the constituency House of Representatives ticket to be zoned to Ekiti. Even in APC, the credible candidates we have are from Isin. The likes of Dr Toba Oloyede. He is a medical doctor with several track records of youth empowerment. If they, in APC, should be clamouring for anything, it should be credibility and such credible candidates are in Isin.
“I suppose it’s high time they stopped pulling the wool over the eyes of the electorate by coming out to tell us who gets what as we are rapidly inching towards 2023 when people will go out in their hundreds, thousands to decide their destiny by electing a representative that can do his job perfectly.”
