The Technical Adviser of Kwara United has expressed his concerns over what he described as the struggling nature of the team to get the desired result at their home ground in Ilorin.
Speaking after Kwara United goalless draw with Rivers United in their NPFL matchday 23 rescheduled game in Ilorin on Thursday, Coach Dogo noted that the visitors were lucky to have escaped with a draw, giving the dominance of his boys in the game where the lack of clinical finishing didn’t help their goal onslaughts upfront.
While stating that his team performed impressively against the Pride of Rivers, Dogo lamented how the team has had some difficulties in getting desired results at the home ground.
In all the 32 league games played so far, Kwara United has recorded nine losses, nine wins and 14 draws. Six out of the 14 draws were recorded on their home ground while the remaining eight draws occurred away from home.
By this equation, it means that the team has dropped 12 points at their home ground from a possible 18 while it has also creditably secured 8 points on the road from all matches drawn away from home.
It’s also instructive to note that all the nine matches won so far were recorded at the home front. However, of all its nine losses, only one defeat was recorded at the home front in the 0-2 loss to Lobi Stars
“It’s a game that we really worked and planned to get three points because of the value and what we have achieved on the road so far” he said.
The gaffer continued “Anybody that knows the team will know that we have progressed very well, but we are always finding it difficult to get the desired results at home- that’s football because it’s one of those things. We accept it in good faith and Rivers are lucky to escape with a draw.
“I believe the team is improving everyday. What we have achieved outside, we have not achieved it at home but we continue to pray for success in the home ground”.
Kwara United are now sitting 13th on the log with 41 points. While the team will play against Warri Wolves in round 32 of the President Federation Cup in their next game, they will have another date with Remo Stars in Ilorin as they continue their quest to avoid any drop to the red zones in the remaining six league matches.
The NPFL is expected to resume fully on May 25 following the mandated break occasioned by the need for Rivers United to clear all their outstanding matches which were accumulated due to their CAF confederation cup engagement.
