A hit-and-run car has crushed a five-year-old girl on New Airport Road Calabar.
The tragedy occurred on Saturday after after a business person got was abducted during a heavy rainfall on the same airport road.
The business person who has been simply identified as Bassey was a owner of a shop near the main gate to the University of Cross River State.
The kidnappers were reported to have landed from a bus and a Toyota Camry car.
It was gathered that the victim, tried to resist them, but he was overpowered and took away in the waiting vehicles.
Those who witnessed the ugly scenario, narrated that the abductors shot into the air as they whisked Bassey away.
They also confirmed that this would be the second time the victim would be kidnapped within the space of two years.
They also revealed that Bassey, who is of middle age, is from Ndupoise community in Nsit Ibom LGA of Akwa Ibom State.
It was gathered that the name of the small girl crushed by hit and run driver was identified as Goodnews Umoren.
One person who witnessed the incident informed newsmen that the speeding vehicle hit Goodness, smashed her head on the tarred road where she had her last breath soon after.
Other persons who witnessed the incident condemned the poor state of the road at Efio Anwan Junction off New Airport Road where the incident occurred Saturday afternoon.
The driver of the speeding vehicle was reported to have run away after committing the act.
The spokesperson of the police, DSP Irene Ugbo, said she will make official comments on the two tragic incidents when briefed by her officers.
