3 persons die, 2 injured in Lagos-Abeokuta expressway accident
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in
Ogun State has revealed that three persons have lost their lives and two other persons sustained injuries in an auto crash on Sunday, along Lagos-Abeokuta expressway.
Mr Ahmed Umar, who’s the Sector Commander, informed newsmen in Abeokuta capital of the state, that the accident affected a Nissan car and a Volvo mini truck after Obada police station along the expressway.
The commander narrated that the accident happened at about 7:15am and was likely triggered by traffic rules violation on the part of the driver of the truck with registration mark, AKM 489 ZY.
“The suspected cause of the crash was route violation on the part of the truck driver which resulted in head on collision with the car which has no registration number,” he said.
Umar also explained that while five male adults were affected by the accident, three of them last their lives instantly while the remaining two persons were injured.
He further said that those who sustained injuries have been hospitalized to General Hospital Abeokuta for medical treatment and their dead bodies deposited at the hospital’s morgue.
Umar sympathized with the family of the victims and sent message of advice to drivers not to violate traffic rules and regulations.
“Safety is everybody’s business especially in this season of high vehicular movement, one should drive cautiously and obey traffic rules and regulations,” he said.
