Charles Oke, a chairman of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP in the Ogbaku ward in the Mbaitoli Local Government Area of Imo State, was on Saturday shot by some gunmen.
The Informant247 gathered that the incident occurred in his hometown Umunomo Nsokpo in the Ogbaku community.
Sources revealed that the incident was politically motivated.
Other sources said the incident was as a result of criminality perpetrated by criminal gangs within the Ogbaku area.
A source that witnessed the scenario said the hoodlums shot Oke several times.
The victim was already hospitalized at the time of filing this report.
The state spokesperson of the party, Collins Opurozor, said they would soon release a statement in connection to the matter.
The spokesperson of the state police command was yet to make a statement concerning the incident.
Some villagers who spoke anonymously persuaded the security formations to tighten the security in the Ogbaku area which is located along Owerri-Onitsha road.
