Man remanded in prison over alleged rape of three minors

Court remands man for allegedly defiling neighbour’s daughter in Lagos The Informant247

A Customary Court in Kafanchan, Kaduna State, Wednesday directed that an electrician, Dariba Makere, 55, be remanded at a correctional facility over alleged rape of three girls.

The suspect was dragged to court by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) over alleged rape of the girls whose ages were between nine and 11 years.

The prosecutor of the NSCDC, Mr Marcus Audu, has told the court that the case was brought before the corps by the Salama Sexual Assault Referral Centre, Kafanchan, on July 1.

Audu said the suspect was alleged to have lured the girls separately into his room at different times and used force to have sexual intercourse with them.

He revealed that the accused has threatened to kill the victims if they disclose to anyone what had happened.

He further said that the action of the accused was against the Kaduna State Penal Code.

George Gwani, who’s the presiding judge, did not take the plea of the suspect on the ground that it lacks the jurisdiction to welcome the case.

He has ordered the prosecutor to send the file of the case to the state’s Directorate of Public Prosecution for legal advice and adjourned the matter to Sept. 21 for mention.
