Gunmen attack Gov. Okowa’s security team, kill 3 policemen 

Some gunmen have attacked the advance security team of Governor of Delta State, Ifeanyi Okowa.

The incident reportedly claimed the lives of 3 police officers.

The State’s Commissioner of Information, Charles Aniagwu confirmed the incident on Saturday in a press briefing in Asaba, the capital of the state.

The Commissioner said the police officers were traveling to join the governor, who’s also the vice presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP at the campaign rally of the party scheduled to take place at Abia State on Friday.

While they reached the Ihiala/Isseke/Orlu Road, the hoodlums launched an attack on them and shot sporadically at them, causing the death of 3 of them, while one tried to escape the scene.

The government said the development was saddening, and encouraged the security agencies to to uncover the masterminders of the attack.
