Two herdsmen are currently in the custody of the Niger State Police over alleged amputation of the hands of their 60 year old father.
They are in detention on the orders of a Chief Magistrates Court in Minna till 26 September, 2022.
The duo of 25 year old Bello Usman, and also 25 year old Shehu Abubakar had conspired along with Shede Umar and another person who’s simply identified as Kai both currently at large to commit the grave offence.
Earlier, the men of State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID), had arraigned the suspects on two-count charges which include criminal conspiracy and causing grievous hurt, which is against section 97 and 246 of the penal code.
The suspects have revealed to the court that the first plan between them and their partners in the crime was not to commit the offence, but only to rustle his cattle.
Hajiya Fati Hassan Umar, the Chief Magistrate, then ordered the police to pursue the other two fleeing suspects to be dragged to court and face the law.
The 60-year-old victim has been taken to the court from the hospital where he was receiving medical care.
The father and the guardian of the fleeing culprits, who were called upon by the presiding Chief Magistrate, were directed to bring their wards to court in the next court sitting scheduled for the 26th ofSeptember, 2022.
