Gov’ship Polls: Ogun Gov. Abidoun loses LGA To PDP

The Governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun lost his local government area in yesterday’s governorship and state assembly elections.

He lost the local government area — Ikenne Local Government Area of the state, Ogun State to the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ladi Adebutu.

The Informant247 learned that the 2 governorship candidates hailed from Iperu Remo in Ikenne LGA.

Adebutu had 12,472 votes to conquer Abiodun of the All Progressives Congress, APC who gathered 9,133 votes.

The Informant247 recalls that the Governor
won at his polling unit, where he garnered 147 votes; Adebutu got 142 votes.

The Governor lost at the polling unit of Vice-President, Yemi Osinbajo at PU 14, Egunrege in Ikenne township, where PDP received 42 votes, APC scored 21 votes, and ADC got one vote.

The Governor came victorious at the political base of the former Governor of the state, Olusegun Osoba.

He won at the polling unit 15 ward 14 in Ibara House Estate, Abeokuta.

Abiodun, who’s seeking re-election bid on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) got 89 votes to conquer his closet challenger, Oladipupo Adebutu of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP, who secured 43 votes.

The governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Olubiyi Otegbeye polled 36 votes.

The polling unit, according to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), had 1,121 registered voters.

The total vote cast was was 170 and a vote was voided.

In a similar development, the Governor could not make it at the polling unit of former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Dimeji Bankole in Abeokuta, the capital of the state.

The governor, who gathered 66 votes, lost the unit to the candidate of the PDP who had, 77 votes.
