Consequently, I urge all Rivers citizens to come out en mass to receive our President-Elect, His Excellency Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and display the traditional Rivers hospitality as he commissions these legacy projects to God’s glory and the advancement of our development.
“Given this, I hereby declare Wednesday, 3rd May 2023, a public holiday to enable the people of Rivers State to receive our President-Elect rousingly.
“Furthermore, all shops and business premises along Rumuola to Rumuokwuta roads in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of the State shall remain closed from 8.00 a.m. to 3.00 p.m. on Wednesday, 3rd May 2023. I urge all labour unions and security agencies to comply with this closure order.”
The Informant247 earlier reported that Governor Wike has put in place a committee that would welcome the president elect Senator Bola Tinubu to the state.
The Governor said the committee that would welcome the president elect to the state also comprises members of the ruling All Progressives Congress APC and the Social Democratic Party SDP in the state.
Wike while addressing the planning committee for the inauguration of the newly elected leaders of the state, said: “This is not a party affair, but a state affair. So, the committee is made up of all shades of opinion. In fact, our state has the largest number of such committees bearing in mind how our state is. The inauguration committee is just to prepare for the swearing-in of the governor and deputy governor-elect. It is therefore not automatic that you become a cabinet member because you are a member of the inauguration committee.”
