Gov. Sule presents Wadada to Tinubu as Nasarawa APC consensus guber candidate

Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State on friday presented Aliyu Wadada, the senator representing Nasarawa west to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the All Progressives Congress (APC) consensus gubernatorial candidate in the state.

It would be recalled that governor Sule had  earlier endorsed Wadada as his preferred successor ahead of the 2027 elections.

Sule  announced the decision on Thursday during a meeting with political appointees at the government house in Lafia, the capital of Nasarawa.

He said the choice was the outcome of consultations with stakeholders within and outside the state.

“After exhaustive consultations, the field was eventually narrowed to three aspirants, each of whom was considered capable of winning,” he said.

“Further consultations were conducted before a final decision was reached in favour of Senator Wadada. We had to look for people who have the capacity to win this election.”

Wadada, chairman of the senate committee on public accounts, defected from the Social Democratic Party (SDP) to the APC in August 2025.

The endorsement comes as political parties prepare for the 2027 general election.

Like Nasarawa State, Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun state also during the week announced Senator Solomon Adeola Yayi as All Progressives Congress (APC) consensus gubernatorial candidate in the state
