The Kwara State government has issued a stern warning to residents dumping their refuse indiscriminately in drainages and on road medians to desist from such acts.
Remilekun Banigbe, the Commissioner for Environment, stated this on Wednesday during a radio programme in Ilorin.
The commissioner urged residents without ‘rorobins’ in their areas to patronize the commercial waste contractors for proper evacuation of their waste while places, where ‘rorobins’ are placed, should be used adequately.
She pointed out that the state government frowns at the lackadaisical attitude of the people in maintaining proper hygiene which should be part of their wellbeing.
The Commissioner said all local governments are involved in the environmental issues as their environmental officers are always carried along.
