Five kidnapped victims die in captivity in Kwara

Five of the eight worshippers abducted during the armed bandits’ attack on the Evangelical Church of West Africa (ECWA) Church, Omugo, in Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State, are reportedly dead, while the remaining three are still in captivity.

Among the deceased is the wife of the minister in charge of the church, Mrs. Rachel Oluwaremilekun Omole. Others include Elder Chief David Omopariola, Chief Joseph Ibitoye Afariogun, Mrs Iyabo Aniyi and Elder Joshua Akanbi Adeyemi

According to family sources familiar with development, the information of tragic loss was reportedly relayed by one of the victims who managed to escape from the terrorists’ custody.

Although details surrounding the circumstances of their deaths remain unclear, the vuctims were kidnapped on March 22, 2026.

The bandits attacked the church premises during a Sunday service, shooting sporadically to scare the congregation.
