A building was on Wednesday gutted by fire in Oke-Onigbin, Isin Local Government Area, Kwara State, Kwara State.
The spokesperson for Kwara State Fire Service, Hassan Hakeem Adekunle, said the inferno, which destroyed two rooms, was put out by the efforts of the fire service, thereby preventing it from spreading to other buildings.
He said, “Around 10:03hrs of today, men of State Fire Service ( Omu-aran outstation) was summoned to a fire incident, at Orotedo Compound Behind Moyinade Filling Station, Oke-onigbin, Kwara State, by one Mr. Ameen Abiola through an exchange telephone call.
“We thank God that the firemen were able to perform excellently well in protecting the building from the ravaging fire. We also prevented the raging inferno from spreading to other buildings in the vicinity before leaving the scene of occurrence.”
He quoted the new Director of Kwara State Fire , CFO Falade Olumuyiwa John as advising the people of the community to “be at alert whenever there is a fire incident…, and should always remember to call the fire Brigade on time in case of any outbreak”.
