Fire guts shopping complex in Ilorin
A shopping complex in Ilorin, on Tuesday, caught fire.
The burnt complex is located opposite Royal Palm International School, Kulende Estate Area in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital.
The cause of the fire outbreak, which occurred around 20:29 hrs, could not be ascertained as at time of filing this report.
Speaking on the incident, the spokesperson for Kwara State Fire Service, Hassan Hakeem Adekunle, said four of sixteen shops in the building complex were affected.
He added, “The inferno would have been a great one if not because of the quick response of the State Fire Service, in totally subdued the effect of the raging fire and cooled down the immediate surrounding areas by Chemical Foam Compound in order to prevent reemergence of this vicious incident.”
Adekunle quoted the Director of Kwara State Fire Service, CFO Yakub I. Waheed, to have urged the general public “to always play safe”.
