Fire consumes 6 shops, destroys property worth millions of naira in Jigawa market

Six shops have been burnt down by fire incident in Hadejia Local Government Area of Jigawa State.

The spokesperson of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps, NSCDC, in the state, Adamu Shehu has confirmed the development in a statement released to newsmen.

Shehu said: “On Friday, December 2, 2022, at about 01:15hrs, the NSCDC Divisional Office received an emergency call on a fire outbreak at Gadar Kogi in Hadejia.”

He explained that some officers were immediately mobilised to the affected scene to extinguish the fire.

He also explained that the fire incident has consumed about 6 shops reported to have belonged to one Usman Mai Shago and 5 other persons.

He added that the inferno destroyed items and property worth millions of naira.

According to the spokesperson, no life was lost.

The mouthpiece of the Corps said the fire incident was triggered by electricity sparks.

Adamu further said that the fire was extinguished by the disaster response team of the NSCDC with the support of good persons around the affected scene.
