The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has said that anyone found guilty of vote buying during the forthcoming 2023 elections will be sentenced to one year imprisonment or pay a fine of N500,000.
This was revealed by the INEC Commissioner in Jigawa State, Professor Muhammad Lawal Bashar, while granting an interview.
The INEC chief said the electoral umpire was ready to take charge of all the elections with the BVAS machine and effect free and fair elections.
“The machine will identify voters going to vote and those who have registered more than once will not be able to vote.
The professor has sent message of advice to go and get their voter cards before the closing date.
He said the electoral commission has put in place good plan that will facilitate voting for those with special needs, the older ones and pregnant women.
