It was celebration galore as corps members serving their fatherland in various states across the federation have started receiving alerts from their various banks reflecting the proposed increment in their monthly allowance from N19,800 to N33,0000.
Authenticating this development, excited corps members could not hide their emotions as they inundated the internet with various screenshots of bank alerts bearing the increment.
Recall that the Director General of NYSC gave assurance while delivering an address at the NYSC orientation camp in Iyana-Ipaja, in Lagos state that the monthly allowance of corps members would be increased immediately the federal government starts paying minimum wages.
“Your monthly allowance would be increased immediately the Federal Government starts the payment of the new minimum wage to all public servants nationwide,” the DG said.
Former president of Goodluck Jonathan had in 2011 increased corps members monthly allowance from N9,775 to N19,800.
