Police Arrest, 12 alleged 'Yahoo boys' apprehended for allegedly burying newborn baby alive

The Adamawa State Police Command has apprehended a 36-year-old man, Ja’afar Adamu, for allegedly raping his 21-year-old neighbor’s wife in Anguwan Diocese Kala’a, located in the Hong Local Government Area.

The incident occurred on September 15, and the arrest was confirmed by SP Suleiman Nguroje, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO).

According to Nguroje, the suspect allegedly took advantage of the absence of the victim’s husband, who was working on the farm at the time.

The suspect entered the victim’s house and forcibly engaged in sexual activity with her.

During the incident, the suspect wore a black face mask and carried a knife to intimidate the victim into compliance.

However, his mask fell off during the act, leading to his identification by the victim. He fled the scene through a window after the incident.

The victim’s husband reported the incident to the Divisional Police Headquarters in Kala’a.

In response, the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Afolabi Babatola, expressed his disapproval of the incident and instructed the officer in charge of the Family Support Unit to take over the investigation and ensure the thorough prosecution of the suspect.

The police commissioner also extended his sympathy to the victim’s husband and called on the public to support the police’s efforts in combatting all forms of Gender-Based Violence (GBV).
