FG announces Friday, Monday public holidays for Easter celebrations

The Federal Government has announced Friday, March 7, 2023 meant for Good Friday and Monday, March 10, 2023 meant for Easter Monday as public holidays.

The Informant247 understands that the coming Friday and Monday have been declared public holidays by the federal government to mark 2023’s celebrations of Good Friday and Easter.

This was announced by the Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola, on Wednesday April 5 in Abuja, the nation’s capital.

The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Shuaib Begore, on behalf of the minister, in a statement encouraged Christian faithfuls to learn from the virtues of togetherness, sacrifice, kindness, forgiveness, patience, peace and love which Jesus Christ was remarkable for.

Aregbesola implored Christian faithfuls to make use of the 2023 Easter celebration to remember Nigeria in their prayers, for an end to security challenges in parts of the country.

He said, “Security is everybody’s business, I therefore urge Nigerians and foreigners resident in our country to display a high sense of citizenship and public spiritedness by supporting the efforts of all security agencies in bringing peace and security of lives and property of the citizenry.”

The minister told citizens that the Federal Government is working around the clock to ensure peaceful handing over of power in respect to the conduct of elections.

He wished Christian faithfuls at home and abroad a happy Easter celebration.

He encouraged them to be their brother’s keeper, as the haves are expected to share with the have-not.

“There is surely light at the end of the tunnel,” he stated.
