A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja on Wednesday, granted bail to the former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele.
Olukayode Adeniyi, the presiding judge, while delivering a ruling on the bail application filed by the former CBN governor, ordered the federal government to release Emefiele to his lawyers.
Adeniyi also ordered the lawyers to ensure that Emefiele is produced for arraignment whenever he is needed and that his international passport should be deposited before the court.
The Informant247 had earlier reported that Emefiele was brought to the Court by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Emefiele, who was last week transferred from the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS), was surrounded by officials of the anti-graft agency.
It was earlier gathered that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on Monday, failed to bring the former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele to court.
EFCC’s action was against Thursday’s order by the Federal Capital Territory High Court, ordering the commission to either release him or produce him in court for the hearing of a motion on his bail.
However, at the court proceedings on Monday, the former CBN governor was absent.
