Erin-Ile community appeals to Kwara govt to fix deplorable roads

Residents of Erin-Ile in Oyun Local Government Area have called on the Kwara State Government to urgently rehabilitate the Elerin Road, which they described as a lifeline route now in a state of near collapse.

In a letter addressed to Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq and signed by the secretary of the Erin-Ile Concern Group, Popoola Muhammad, the community lamented the “deplorable state” of the road linking Osun State to Kwara, which serves as a critical passage connecting the southwest to the northern region of the country.

The group noted that years of neglect had left the road riddled with deep potholes, erosion, and failed drainage systems, making it almost impassable, particularly during the rainy season.

“This road has become a nightmare for motorists and commuters, causing frequent accidents, higher transportation costs, and disruptions to economic activities,” the group stated.

They stressed that rehabilitating the road would ease the suffering of residents, enhance trade, improve the movement of goods and services, and contribute to the overall socio-economic development of Erin-Ile.

The group appealed to the governor to give “urgent attention” to the rehabilitation and maintenance of the road, adding that such an intervention would be “highly appreciated and remembered by the people of Erin-Ile.”
