Ebonyi Gov., Nwifuru appoints CPS, freezes all state bank accounts

Francis Nwifuru, the Ebonyi State Governor has approved the appointment of Dr Monday Uzor as his Chief Press Secretary.

Prior to his appointment, Uzor, who hails from Effium community, Ohaukwu Local Government Area of the state, was the Chief Press Secretary to the immediate past Deputy Governor of the state, Dr. Kelechi Igwe.

Governor Nwifuru also ordered the freezing of government accounts domiciled in various banks with effect from Tuesday.

Nwifuru, in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Uzor, directed all bank managers in the state to ensure that no withdrawal will be made from government accounts until further notice.

The statement reads, “His Excellency, the Governor of Ebonyi State, Rt. Hon Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, has directed the immediate freezing of all State government accounts domiciled in various banks with effect from, Tuesday, May 30, 2023.

“Consequently the Governor directs the Bank managers of all the banks that operate government accounts to immediately comply by ensuring that no payment is made from any government accounts till further notice.”
