Emir, speaker express grief over death of gov AbdulRazaq’s CoS

Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, the Emir of Ilorin and Chairman of Kwara State Traditional Rulers Council, has mourned the death of the Chief of Staff to the Kwara State Governor, Alhaji Mahe AbdulKadir.

The Emir, in a statement on Saturday by his spokesperson Mallam Abdulazeez Arowona, said, “Inna lillahi Waina Roooojihun, I receive the demise of Prince Mahe AbdulKadir with rude shock and surprise.”

The Emir described Mahe as “A diligent administrator and committed Prince of the Alimi dynasty. A colosal loss has befellen us in Ilorin Emirate.

“The Emir however commiserates with the wife and children of the deceased, Government and people of Kwara State especially, His Excellency, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq CON and the entire Shehu Alimi dynasty over the unfortunate incidence”, the statement said.

He also extended his sympathy to friends and associates of the late chief of staff to the governor even as “He prayed that Almighty Allah should forgive his shortcomings, accept his good deeds and admit him into Al-janatul firdaos.”

In a related development, the Speaker, Kwara State House of Assembly, Yakubu Danladi-Salihu, has expressed shock over the death of Prince Abdulkadir Mahe.

Prince Mahe, a former clerk of the Kwara State House of Assembly, was until his death, the Chief of Staff to Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.

In a statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the speaker, Abdulkadir Yusuf, also on Saturday, the speaker said “With total submission to the will of Allah, we mourn the death of our father; Prince Abdulkadir Mahe, a distinguished public servant and an administrator par-excellence who served the legislative and executive arms of government meritoriously, indeed this is a great loss to us all.

“We commiserate with the Emir of Ilorin, the Abdulkadir’s family, and the Emirate in general on the passing of illustrious Prince Mahe. We equally sympathize with His Excellency Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq CON on the passing of his Chief of Staff, may Almighty Allah comfort them in this trying moment and beyond.

“The Speaker, on behalf of the Kwara State House of Assembly, prays to Allah to forgive the late Prince Abdulkadir Mahe and grant him Al-janatul firdaos.”

The Informant247 reports that the Chief of Staff to AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, the Kwara State Governor, Alhaji Mohammed Mahe AbdulKadir died on Saturday at the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital (UITH) at the age of 73.

The late chief of staff until his death appointed by Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq about three years after the demise of Alhaji Adisa Logun, who died in 2020 from COVID-19.

Confirming the development, the Kwara state governor, in a statement by his spokesperson Rafiu Ajakaye, said that Prince Mahe died Saturday morning, December 28, 2024.

The statement, while describing the late Chief of Staff as a perfect gentleman, community leader, urbane public servant and a statesman, added that the deceased will be buried on Saturday at his residence on Moro Street, Adewole Estate, Ilorin, after the Asr prayer.

The statement reads: “In total submission to the will of Allaah, we regret to announce the passing of the Chief of Staff to His Excellency, Prince AbdulKadir Mahe.

“He died this morning, December 28, 2024, as has been destined by Allaah.
