The richest man in the world, and the sole director of Twitter, Elon Musk, has publicized a slash of the fee of Twitter verification from monthly payment of $20 to monthly payment of $8.

Musk made this revelation via a series of tweets on Tuesday.

The Informant247 had earlier reported that the popular communications company, Twitter, has publicised plans to begin charging almost $20 every month for verification.

This came barely 48 hours after the richest man in the world, Elon Musk took over the ownership of Twitter.

The monthly subscription is reported to be for premium service for users of the platform to stay verified.

He wrote, “Twitter’s current lords & peasants system for who has or doesn’t have a blue checkmark is bullshit. Power to the people! Blue for $8/month.

“Price adjusted by country proportionate to purchasing power parity.

“You will also get: – Priority in replies, mentions & search, which is essential to defeat spam/scam – Ability to post long video & audio – Half as many ads.

“And paywall bypass for publishers willing to work with us.

“This will also give Twitter a revenue stream to reward content creators.

“There will be a secondary tag below the name for someone who is a public figure, which is already the case for politicians.”
