The promoter of Anthony Joshua, Eddie Hearn has ruled out a possible fight for his client for the year 2022 after talks between Joshua and Fury broke down.

Recall that the Fury called out Joshua for a fight in December, negotiations went well surprisingly but eventually collapsed due to failure of both parties to reach a compromise on schedule.

Hearn explained, “It’s probably a bit of everybody’s fault. It’s a very complex situation for both teams, with TV networks”

Speaking to talksport on Wednesday, Hearn believes Joshua would be better served having a few easier fights than jumping straight back in with Fury.

He revealed Dillian Whyte, who faces Jermaine Franklin in November, and Deontay Wilder are being targeted as Joshua’s next two opponents.

“I think he’s going to fight January or February, early next year,” Hearn said.

“The issue with AJ is, in my opinion, he’s coming off the back of two Usyk defeats, coming off the back of the disappointment and the emotional implosion after the fight… I think he should come back with two standard top 15 opponents, good solid fights, but he doesn’t really want it…

“I think the fight that you’ll see early next year is Dillian Whyte against Anthony Joshua.”

“I think you’ll see either Wilder or Fury against AJ next year, but I think you’ll definitely see the Dillian Whyte fight if he can get through Jermaine Franklin.” he said.

Joshua will be looking to bounce back after suffering a consecutive decision defeats to current WBO, IBF, IBO, WBA world champion Oleksandr Usyk.
