Following the dismissal of some teachers by the state government over lack of qualifications, Some of the sacked teachers have written to the state governor, Mall. AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq and speaker of the state Assembly, Rt. Hon. Salihu Danladi appealing for reconsideration.
In a letter addressed to the governor, dated October 14th, 2019, the teachers under the aegies of Concern SUBEB Workers plead for an extended period of three years to obtain neccesary qualifications.
They said, “Sir, we also plead to your Excellency to give us the grace of three years to obtain our postgraduate in education (PGDE).
“While some of the workers have commenced the PGDE programme already in their various centres such as National Teachers Institutes, College of Education.”
In another letter addressed to the Speaker of the State House of Assembly by the same group, they complained that most of the sacked HND and ND are newly employed staffs.
“Due to the ongoing agitation to fight for our right as citizens of the Nigeria most especially as Kwarans, we the HND holders that were newly employed by the SUBEB have been denied of our salary for September whole some of us are yet to be paid from January 2019 till date.
“However, NUT has spoken to principals of various schools to order all HND holders that are teaching to go and obtain their PGDE. But to our greatest suprise, SUBEB didn’t wait up to a month before they stopped their salaries. Why are the newly employed staff been affected? What of those in the system before us with same qualifications? and we have over 50 HND staff attached to this letter.
“We want this honourable house to fight for us so that we would be paid and to absorb us.”
