Aged women have continue to gather at the Sarakis’ accestral political home “Ile Arugbo” for their weekly activities.
Recall that the Kwara state governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has announced a revocation order on the property, the governor said that the land was originally meant for Government Secretariat and parking space of the Civil Service Clinic but was unlawfully allocated to a private firm Asa Investments Limited without any record of payment to the state government.
Saraki however countered this claim insisting that the late Olusola Saraki lawfully acquired the land from the state government like other private bodies.
“The property had been rightfully allocated to my late father under the name of one of his companies, Asa Investment Limited, since the 1980s and contrary to the claim of the Governor, the land was properly allocated and a Right of Occupancy title issued on it,” Saraki said.
Nevertheless, the aged women today gathered at another building within the vicinity of the demolished property also owned by the Sarakis’ for their weekly activities.
The women who defied the hot weather insisted that they will continue with their normal activities at the place.
THE INFORMANT247 reporter who visited the place observed that most of the women sat on bare floor directly under the sun lamenting the hardship they undergo as a result of the demolished building.
One of the women who only gave her name as Elizabeth said the building is for the welfare of the aged and not for Bukola Saraki.
She said, “Since we know baba Saraki, he has been taking care of both the young and old, providing for us all our basic needs. He even fully funded my pilgrimage to Jerusalem and Europe. We support the continuity of this philanthropic gesture. What happened is really saddened because this house isn’t for Bukola Saraki, but we the aged. He has been providing for us for the past 2 deacades.”
Another aged women sitted on the floor when approached by our reporter insisted that she will not stop coming despite the unfavorable conditions of the new place.
“We will not stop coming here, even though it is not convenient for us. We are sitting directing under the sunlight. The weather is too harsh, but what can we do, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has demolished our building. Let him please, for the sake of we the old ones, reconstruct our building for us”, she said.
