Dele Alli banned over Coronavirus mockery

Tottenham and England midfielder Dele Alli has received a one-match ban over a Snapchat video which has generated a lot of arguments on the internet, with this ban, Dele will not be able feature for Tottenham against l Manchester United on June 19 when the English Premier League resumes.

The 24-year-old’s appeal has was finally heard by a three-person independent commission on Thursday, having in February been charged with discrimination and bringing the game into disrepute.

Alli made derision of a man in Asian look and the coronavirus pandemic which wreaked a huge havoc in the Asian continent.

The England international, who quickly deleted the video and apologised, is understood to have told the commission it was a misguided joke and point out that the video was not shared on a public forum, having been leaked to a national newspaper from a closed Snapchat group.

With the commission’s verdict, Alli will miss out on Friday’s night action versus United.

Jose Mourinho will be left with option of selecting another player to bridge the gap created by Alli’s ban.
