Gobir extends “Farmers Support Project” to Ilorin East, Moro

The Gobir Organization Foundation has announced that its Farmers Support Project will start on Monday 15th of June, 2020 at Ilorin East and Moro Local Government Areas of Kwara State.

The Foundation’s Director of Strategy, Mr. Charles Olufemi Folayan disclosed this while speaking to journalists after an inspection tour of the 300 hectares of land acquired by the Foundation for the Gobir Smart Farm project in Moro LGA.

Folayan said the tractors acquired by the Gobir Organization have almost completed work in Asa Local Government, and that Ilorin East and Moro are the next Local Governments on the list.

He revealed that the organization has attended to over 150 farmers in the last one month and have completed operations on about 100 hectares of land at a subsidized rate of nine thousand naira (N9000) per operation.

Brand new tractors with ploughing, harrowing and ridging tools are being used, resulting in speedy and efficient operations.

He further explained that the tractors would continue to work on the farm land of the existing farmers in Kwara State. However, plans are in top gear to kickstart the training of young farmers for the Gobir Smart Farm Project as soon as the ban on public gathering imposed by the Government as a result of the coronavirus pandemic is lifted.

He noted that over 500 young people have registered at the Gobir Organization office and also through the Gobir Organization website portal to participate in the Program.
