Danladi, Aisha, PDP, others mourn Kwara lawmaker, Rufai

…State Assembly adjourns plenary

The Speaker, Kwara state House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Salihu Yakubu Danladi, the All Progressive Congress, the Peoples Democratic Party, and a Commisoner-designate, Aisha Ahman Patigi have mourned the death of Hon. Ahmed Saidu Rufai.

Rufai, who was representing Patigi constituency at the state Assembly, died in Ilorin after a brief illness.

Danladi while annoucing the death of the deceased lawmaker described it as shocking and devastating.

“This is an unexpected situation that caught us in a rude shock, but unfortunately, the Almighty deprived us of the power to reverse such sad occurrence.

“As we struggle to live with this tragic development and the vacuum that comes with it, we pray that Allah in His infinite mercy forgive his shortcomings and give his family, the 9th Assembly, Patigi Emirate, friends and associate and Kwara state at large, the fortitude to bear this great loss,” Danladi said.

In a release by media office of the State Chairman of the Kwara APC, Hon. Bashir Omolaja Bolarinwa commiserated with the Hon. Speaker, Kwara State House of Assemby, Rt. Hon. Salihu Yakubu Danladi, members of the Kwara State House of Assembly, the Emir and people of Patigi constituency over the unfortunate incident.

He described the late legislator as humane and easy going.

He said, “My little interaction with him portrays him as a very gentle personality. I have no doubt that he will be sorely missed by his family, friends, colleagues and people of his constituency. I pray that Almighty Allah will comfort all those he left behind and grant him Aljannah Firdous”.

On their part, The Kwara state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party in a condolence message signed by its State Publicity Secretary, Tunde Ashaolu, said the death of Honourable Rufai was tragic, shocking and unfortunate.

“The party commiserates with the family and friends of the deceased lawmaker, his constituency, Patigi, his party, the All Progressives Congress, APC and the State House of Assembly.

“We pray to Almighty God to forgive the shortcomings of the deceased and admit him into paradise. We also pray to Him to grant the bereaved family, friends, colleagues, associates and loved ones the fortitude to bear this huge loss,” Ashaolu said.

Also, a commissioner-designate from Patigi Local Government, Hajia Aisha Ahman Patigi expressed grief at Rufai’s death and prayed for the repose of his soul.

“He is a great man with whom I shared thoughts and ideas together towards the development of our community. May Almighty Allah grant him Aljanat and comfort us all.”

Meanwhile, Danladi after annoucing the demise of the lawmaker at the floor of the chamber adjourned plenary till Tuesday 10th December, 2019.
