Helen Carlos, a 32-year-old woman, has been sentenced to 30 months imprisonment over illegal possession of illicit drugs.
The Kaduna Federal High Court on Tuesday sentenced Carlos, to 30 months imprisonment on Tuesday.
The Informant247 gathered that the convict was sentenced by Justice Mohammed Garba.
Carlos was sentenced after she pled guilty to the charge of possession of unlawful drugs.
Report has it that the charge was brought against her by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).
The convict was sentenced to prison without an option of fine.
The judge added that the 30 months imprisonment was in line with the record that Carlos has not once been convicted.
The Judge also passed a message of warning to the convict not to involve in such illegal venture after the service of her jail term but should obey the law of the society, in the favor of her family and the country.
Earlier, the prosecuting counsel of the NDLEA, T. J. Atserhegh, informed the court that the convict was apprehended on Sept. 14, by some operatives of the Agency, along Kaduna-Abuja Road.
The prosecuting counsel said that the convict was apprehended with 1.4kg of Cannabis Sativa, which is popularly known as Indian hemp and 49.3g of Tramadol.
He also added that the offence was in contravention of and punishable under Section 19 of the NDLEA Act, Cap. N30, LFN, 2004 (As Amended).
The prosecuting counsel had called Yunusa Garba, an officer with the agency, who made testimony against the accused.
