Dry cleaner jailed 8 months for stealing binding wires
Obadiah Daniel, a 24-year-old dry cleaner, has been sentenced to eight months imprisonment over theft of binding wires.
A Dei-dei Grade I Area Court has sentenced Daniel of Gwarinpa, Abuja to eight months imprisonment for stealing eight rolls of binding wires.
Daniel was sentenced after pleading guilty to theft and, criminal trespass.
Mr Sulyman Ola, who’s the Judge, has given him the option to pay N40, 000 as fine and directed him to pay Onwu Stephen, the complainant the sum of N30, 000 as compensation.
The judge revealed that Daniel would have to serve additional one month imprisonment if he refuses to pay compensation.
He however sent a message of warning to him to stay away from crimes and conduct himself as a good citizen.
The Prosecution Counsel, Chinedu Ogada had earlier informed the court that the complainant, made complaints about the matter at the Gwarinpa Police Station on Sept.27.
The counsel revealed that Daniel criminally moved into Jayze Home’s Limited, Gwarinpa, with one Felix and went away with eight rolls of binding wires which are worth N120, 000.
The prosecution counsel revealed that the offence, was in contravention of the provisions of section 79, 349 and 288 of the Penal Code.
