Court remands security guard over alleged stealing of school property
An Abuja court has directed a security guard, Israel Bulus, 32 be remanded in prison over alleged theft.
Sulyman Ola who’s the Judge, also directed the defence counsel, Lillian Ibrahim to initiate a formal bail application in the interest of the defendant.
The Judge has however adjourned the case until Dec.13 for hearing, till the ripe of the said application.
The defence counsel had before now made an oral bail application in the interest of the defendants in accordance with Section 162 of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act (ACJA) imploring the court to accept their bail application.
The police has charged the accused of Gwarinpa, Abuja with theft by servant.
The Prosecution Counsel, Chinedu Ogada has earlier leveled an allegation that the defendant, who’s a security guard at Odyssey Educational Foundation School, Gwarinpa, Abuja stole the asset from the school from August to Sept. 23.
He revealed that the defendant allegedly stole assets of the school such as a Nikon and Sonic camera, one Dell laptop, five plastic chairs, 10 pieces of of office chairs and a table worth N1.3million.
The prosecution counsel also alleged that the defendant took one iron rod without the consent of his employer.
The prosecution counsel alleged that the offence, was in contravention of the provisions of Section 289 of the Penal Code.
