Buhari presides over council of state meeting over naira scarcity

President Muhammmadu Buhari on Friday presided over the National Council of State meeting in Abuja, the country’s capital.

The reason for the meeting may be connected to the present scarcity of the new naira notes.

At the meeting were the former Nigerian leaders: Yakubu Gowon, Goodluck Jonathan; Abdulsalami Abubakar.

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo would be attending virtually.

At the meeting were the vice president, Yemi Osinbajo, the Senate President Ahmad Lawan, speaker Femi Gbajabiamila.

The state governors at the chamber were Nasir El-Rufai (Kaduna), Babajide Sanwo-Olu (Lagos), Darius Ishaku (Taraba), Babagana Zulum (Borno).

Other state governors who attended the meeting virtually were Abubakar Badaru (Jigawa), Ademola Adeleke (Osun), Atiku Bagudu (Kebbi), Yahaya Bello (Kogi), Aminu Tambuwal (Sokoto), Dapo Abiodun (Ogun),
Simon Lalong (Plateau).

The deputy governors of Nasarawa state and Bauchi state were virtually attending the meeting.

The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha; Minister of the FCT, Mohammed Bello; the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele, and the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami were also at the meeting.

The chairman of the INEC, Mahmood Yakubu is also at the meeting to brief the council on the preparations and logistics ahead of the forthcoming 2023 elections.

All the Service Chiefs and Heads of security agencies were also physically present.
