Buhari kicks against beheading of army couple, orders arrest
President Muhammadu Buhari has ordered the military and other security agencies to do their possible best, in arresting those who beheaded a military couple and bring them to book.
The President, via a statement released on Wednesday by his spokesperson, Garba Shehu, frowned at the beheading of army couple by the terrorist group, the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Saturday, as affirmed by the Nigerian Army.
Recall that two military officers, Audu Linus, a Master Warrant Officer, and Private Gloria Matthew, were gunned down and their heads cut off, while en route to Imo State for their traditional wedding.
President Buhari sympathized with the Nigerian army and the families of the victims who were “inhumanely treated and gleefully posted on social media platforms”.
The President described the incident as “unfortunate incident, and similar acts of violence against law enforcement agents”.
He however called on community, regional and national leaders to “speak with one voice, to show that the entire country is one against this cruel and barbaric act of violence. This is unacceptable.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of this sad and tragic incident,” said the President.
