Liverpool’s efforts at reaching the top four has once again been dealt a big blow after losing scandalously to Brentford.

Brentford, who had the rare record of beating Manchester United and Manchester City in a similar way in the current season leveraged on the Red’s poor defending to pick up another maximum points despite the absence of their talisman, Ivan Toney.

Trouble started when Liverpool’s centre back, Ibrahima Konate scored an own goal in 19th minute -thus handing the hosts a boost to call for more in the final third of their visitors.

As actions continue to freeze on, Yoane Wissa’s header would later double the lead for the Bees in 42nd minutes- a scoreline that will see Jurgen Klopp to substituting key defenders like Virgil van Dijk and Joel Matip at half-time.

And while Chamberlain pulled one back for Anfield landlord, Bryan Mbeumo further compounded their woes as he netted the third goal for the hosts.

Wissa was also unlucky to have had two of his goals ruled out for offside in the game where the Bees showed their best to close in on Liverpool on the log.

Klopp was also left more frustrated to see Darwin Nunez failing to turn in some chances that could have changed the dimension of the match.

Liverpool are now 6th on the log,15 points adrift Arsenal who are leading with 43 points
