The Super Eagles have emerged victorious after beating Squirrels 2-0 in Porto Novo, Benin Republic.
The goal came at the 93rd minute when Paul Onuachu nodded the ball into the net.
The victory meant that the Eagles ended Benin’s eight-year unbeaten home record, which stretched back to 2013.
According to Punch Newspaper, it was also the Eagles first victory in over a year – spanning four games – after they defeated Lesotho 4-2 in matchday two of the AFCON qualifiers in November 2019.
Nigeria qualified for the AFCON before the kickoff after Lesotho and Sierra Leone played a goalless draw at the Setsoto Stadium in Lesotho.
