Bauchi: Police arrest 18-year-old over alleged killing of teenager

The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested 18-year-old Aisanu Nura over alleged culpable homicide involving 17-year-old Abdullahi Muhammad in Kari Village, Darazo Local Government Area of the state.

According to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Nafiu Habib, the command has commenced investigation into the incident following a report received on May 24, 2026, at about 4:15 p.m.

The report indicated that Abdullahi Muhammad, a resident of Kari Village, was found drowned in the Kari River under suspicious circumstances allegedly linked to Aisanu Nura, who also resides in the same community.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the suspect allegedly lured the victim to the river before he was drowned. Police operatives from the Darazo Division reportedly responded swiftly, arrested the suspect, and launched an investigation.

As of the time of filing this report, the victim’s body has not yet been recovered, while search efforts are ongoing.

The case has since been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Bauchi for further investigation.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, has directed that the case be thoroughly and professionally investigated to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident. He also assured that justice would be served in accordance with the law.

The command further advised parents and guardians to closely monitor their children and wards, and urged members of the public to report any suspicious activity to the nearest police station.
