Aviation group expresses gratitude to FAAN, State Government prays for successful hajj 2024

Kwarans in Aviation, a coalition of diverse professionals in Nigeria’s aviation sector, has expressed gratitude and optimism as Hajj flights resume from Ilorin’s General Tunde Idiagbon International Airport (GTIIA) for the 2024 pilgrimage season.

The group, which includes pilots, air traffic controllers, engineers, operators, and administrators of Kwara origin, emphasizes professionalism, commitment, discipline, and productivity as its core values.

In a statement issued by its Chairman, Alhaji Bola Ahmed, and signed by its Public Relations Officer, Alhaji Rauf Alawo, the group wished all pilgrims a safe journey and a successful Hajj.

Alhaji Ahmed urged the pilgrims to be exemplary ambassadors of Nigeria during their time in the holy land.

The 2023 Hajj pilgrimage faced significant challenges as pilgrims were unable to fly directly from GTIIA to Jeddah or Medina due to critical aviation safety and standards issues. This inconvenience impacted the Hajj exercise, causing regret among the pilgrims and stakeholders.

However, the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) intervened, restoring hope with the resumption of Hajj flights from GTIIA for the 2024 season. This development has brought immense joy to the pilgrims and the aviation community in Kwara State.

Kwarans in Aviation acknowledged FAAN’s efforts, including the rehabilitation of the airfield lighting system, comprehensive renovation of the Hajj Processing Center, and the provision of a fire tender.

The group expressed gratitude to FAAN’s Managing Director/Chief Executive, Mrs. Olubunmi Kuku, and her management team. Special thanks were extended to Dr. Emiola Lukman Olatunbosun, Director of Human Resources and Administration, and Engr. Abiola, Director of Engineering Services, for their contributions.

The group also appreciated the efforts of the GTIIA management team, led by Airport Manager Mr. Olatayo Oginni, and all airport staff, including personnel from NAMA, FAAN, NCAA, and NSIB.

Furthermore, gratitude was expressed to the Kwara State Government, led by Governor Abdulrahaman Abdulrazaq, for responding to the group’s call and providing an ambulance and fire tender for the Hajj exercise.

The Emir of Ilorin, Mai Martaba Alhaji Ibraheem Sulu-Gambari, Senator Saliu Mustapha, and the Ilorin Emirate Descendants Progressive Union (IEDPU) were also recognized for their support.

In conclusion, Kwarans in Aviation reaffirmed its commitment to partnering with all stakeholders in the aviation sector, continually promoting high standards and core values.
