Auto crash claims six lives in Ogun on Christmas day

Auto crash has claimed the lives of six travelers on Christmas day in Ogun state.

The fatal accident happened at about 3:20 am on Saturday, along the Lagos-Ibadan expressway, opposite Elanlan construction zone.

It was gathered that 12 others were said to have sustained varying degrees of injuries aside those that lost their lives.

According to the spokesperson of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Ogun State, Florence Okpe, the accident involved a Toyota Hiace bus with registration number, MKA567XZ and an Iveco trailer, marked XF854KTN.

“The suspected causes of the crash were road obstruction, excessive speed and loss of control,” Okpe confirmed.

It was disclosed that the injured victims were taken to different hospitals – some to Lagos State Accident and Emergency Centre, Ojota; some to Divine Touch Hospitals, Ibafo and others were conveyed to Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital (OOUTH), Sagamu.

Okpe said that the dead bodies were deposited at Idera mortuary, Sagamu.

She stated that a sum of N127, 900 was recovered from the crash scene, adding that the Ogun FRSC Sector Commander, Ahmed Umar, has advised motorists to drive cautiously.
