Godswill Akpabio, Nigeria’s Senate President on Monday, announced the chairpersons of standing committees of the 10th red chamber.
The Informant247 gathered that Akpabio made the announcement after concluding the screening of the 48 ministerial nominees recommended by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for confirmation.
The Informant247 had reported that 45 out of the 48 nominees were confirmed while the senate awaits security clearance of the remaining three, including Nasir el-Rufai, former governor of Kaduna, Danlandi Abubakar from Taraba and Stella Okotete (Delta).
Among those who made the lists of chairpersons of committes are Ahmad Lawan, former senate president (defence), and Abdulaziz Yari, ex-governor of Zamfara (water resources).
Others are Aminu Tambuwal (housing); Adams Oshiomhole (interior); Godiya Akwashiki (airforce), Buhari Abdul-Fata (aviation); Osita Izunaso (capital Market); Cyril Fasuyi (establishment); Seriake Dickson (ecology/climate change); Jide Ipisagba (petroleum downstream); Aliyu Wadada (public accounts); Shehu Kaka (special duties); Patrick Ndubueze works); Solomon Adeola (appropriations); Musa Sani (finance); Abiru Tokunbo (banking) and Adeyemi Adaramodu (media).
The new chairpersons also included Isa Jubril (customs); Elisha Abbo (culture and tourism); Victor Umeh (diaspora), Lawal Usman (education); Akintunde Yunus (environment); Ibrahim Bomai (FCT), Sani Abubakar (foreign affairs); Banigo Harry (health); Enyinaya Abaribe (power) and Aliyu Wamakko (local and foreign debts).
They also include Adamu Aliero (land transport); Daniel Olugbenga (navy); Barinada Mpigi (Niger Delta); Mohammed Monguno (judiciary); Yemi Adaramodu (youths and sports); Ireti Kingigbe (women affairs); Orji Kalu (privatisation); Saliu Mustapha (agriculture); Aliyu Bilbis (communications); and Asuquo Ekpenyong (NDDC)..
